Anderson Packaging, Inc. Acquires Vial Filler; Produces Enhanced Blister Design.
2/18/2002

Anderson Packaging, Inc. announces the introduction of oral dose solid vial filling as its newest primary packaging capability. On February 18, 2002, production will begin on the first vial filling line in the history of Anderson's twenty-plus years of pharmaceutical packaging experience.

Anderson has purchased a custom designed Vial Filler, which will operate at a high rate of production. The machine includes a video jet for lot and expiration coding as well as an air rinse process to guarantee the removal of all foreign matter from the vials. The production line includes mechanical inspection for the presence of lot codes by a vision system. The system verifies the bar code on the labels before they are affixed to the vial as well as the presence of a label during production, while the tablet fill of the vial is automatically confirmed by the Pill Feeder. The production line is designed for flexibility and is capable of filling a large array of vial sizes and tablet configurations.

In support of this acquisition, Anderson Packaging has also obtained a state of the art thermoform blistering line for the production of secondary blister packaging. In a joint development effort, Anderson and the machine manufacturer's engineers designed and produced the first commercial stand-up blister with negative draft angle technology. This package will sit on a market shelf at less than a five degree angle, versus the current market offerings of fifteen to twenty degree angles, thereby maximizing graphic images, shelf presence and consumer awareness.

Anderson Packaging is one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical contract packagers in the United States. With extensive experience in new-product launches and process startup, Anderson offers such specialized services as package development, including design of child-resistant and patient-compliance prompting features, and process development, including in-house tooling design and manufacture. Anderson also maintains one of the most progressive process, facilities and validation programs in the contract packaging industry, while maintaining a record of superior quality and service.
